The Universal Play Machine was an installation designed, installed and fabricated whilst working for Mobile Studio Architects in London. A series of five bespoke machines were fabricated and installed in a forest in New Hampshire, USA for BEAM Camp, a centre for hands-on learning for young people ages 10-17. Each machine, standing nearly two metres tall, displays a hand drawn series of fifty images which, when rotated by hand crank, bring the drawings to life - each depicting different birds within the forest setting.
Lit from within at night time, the one-way mirror film applied to the acrylic cladding allows the mechanism inside to be revealed.
